Around the world at Golfvie Apts.

I have my first exam in veterinary school on monday. So in an effort to side track and not "over study" as I find I am doing, I thought I would update you! So about the second weekend of this semester our apartment complex had a get-to-gether of sorts. (yes, we actually have an address now, golfview apts 15B...as opposed to our previous "address," the next left after the dumpster in Frigate Bay in the big yellow building) So those apartments that participated picked a country and represented it with good food and drinks. We spent about 1 hour at each apartment. Our country was Greece! Caroline had some great recipes to work form. We made cucumber dip, homemade pita chips, and chicken kabobs! Here are some pictures of the night..
Of course we had to dress the part!

The first apartment was USA and I guess St. Kitts combine haha. There was mac and cheese, pigs in a blanket, and johny cakes (really good sandwich thingys on St. Kitts).

Next was Mexico!

AAAAAAreeeba!

Tequila shots in Mexico!

...gross

Italy was right before our Greece

aaand everyone just got a little too excited about our cucumber dip that spilling happened haha

Arthur had a play friend!

Just a cute picture of Arty

Alright, in the distance you can kind of see a water tornado. These things pop up out of nowhere! Yesterday at our volleyball game one just came down right infront of us! People were running up to it and taking pictures with it!! Pretty weird, at least I thought so!

Every semester has fundraisers to save money for our seventh semester party. The fourth semester decided to make a calender of all the (few) boys that were in their class. Well one of the months required some puppies and guess who made it in the picture....Arthur! He is my little Mr. February!

Here is the website with all of the out-takes from the shoot. If you are bored, it is pretty funny to see what a terror Arthur was through the process: http://www.katewalshphotography.com/Kate_Walsh_Photography/Studs_Outtakes_Album/Pages/February_-_Stuart.html
RJ and I are getting our engagement pictures done by the same photographer! Super excited about it!

Wish me luck on my microanatomy exam!

White Coat Ceremony

In order to transition into the veterinary school, we went through a white coat ceremony. We were "coated" in a fancy fashion, with the Ross University emblem over our chest. We recited the oath of a veterinarian, it was a great ceremony.

Pondering my future

Out to eat after white coat.

I am so happy to be here, studying on my little desk. Yesterday we started looking at our prosected cadavers. Initially I was wierded out by the bodies, now it is not that bad. I cannot imagine doing this to humans, gross! haha. My posts will become more scarce now, as if they had not already. I appologize in advance.

Parents Visit (:

Hello everybody!! (As my new Physiology Professor would say) A LOT has happened in the past two weeks. My parents, good ole' Joe and Char came along for my adventure back to St. Kitts to legitimately begin my veterinary career. (We appropriately have renamed our volleyball team "Too Legit" because we are legit now). The place where they stayed was pretty amazing, almost better than the Marriot!

I know my mom misses Arthur now that she is home...

So my parents and I walk onto the pool deck, and something happened that I never thought I would ever see...my mom walked right into the water and went underwater!! This has only happened in rare occasions of really really warm water. The water in the pool was like bath water, it was as nice as swimming in a pool of really warm salt water in Arizona. (trust me, warm salt water feels like your are swimming through velvet)

At the beach infront of where they stayed

At Shipwreck where they had a mango colada and funky monkey...yumm

Still trying to get Arthur to go into the water. He did make some positive steps by running into the water at my parents condo, not so much when everyone was around.

He ust swims right back to shore..

Monkeys

Right after we touched down, I had to go to campus to get my car. I showed my parents around a bit. They enjoyed the tour.

My dad pretending to lecture, haha. Love the straw hat.

At Rock Lobster where my parents finally met my roommates (:

My parents also helped me move into our new apartment. Second floor with a generator and my own bathroom...sign me up!

Our lovely living room with a balcony looking over the golf course.

Our large kitchen..our last kitchen was pretty much a sink and a stove!

My fabulous room, enough room for both Arthur and I.

My awesome study area.

Rachel made this clothe gate so Arthur could not get into Orion's food/water/poo.

Success! He cannot get in!

Moving has not gone without mishaps...Jenny got locked in her bathroom /: Arthur was very concerned!

Hello Jenny!! I can see you!!

Our class color is purple, we had semester olympics and Thursday was soccer. Arthur and I went to show our purple support!

I think by far my parents enjoyed the catamaran trip to Nevis. I had another activity planned of going to see a leatherback sea turtle lay its eggs from 8pm-midnight. We stayed until about 11:00 and my parents were ready to leave. Sitting on a blanket on a random beach in the pitch black for over 2 hours while listening to a guide tell you everything you ever wanted to know about turtle just wasn't my parents cup of tea. I was hoping we would have seen a turtle right away, but a female did not surface until 1:00am that night. I can go again at a later date to stay all night and see one. So, like I said, I am pretty sure my parents enjoyed the catamaran trip.

If I win the lottery, I am getting my dad a catamaran.

Some vetpreppers transitioned to firsties (:

Nevis

Getting ready to snorkel...I felt like a such a snob as I have been over 50 ft deeper than where we went (;

Nevis

We arrive on Nevis to embrase the hottest sand my feet haave ever felt and also the killer bee drink.

After a couple killer bees, everyone was dancing!

The kittitians could shimmy their hips much better than me.

Conga anyone?

The entire boat sang happy birthday to my dad!

Short ribs at buddies! One of my classmates got the barbque ribs, chicken, fries and a pina colada! I must say, if I were on death row, that may just be my last meal!

I am so happy that my parents where there to celebrate with me. It was nice to show them campus and where I will be living for quite some time.
